Translation Process
In what format can I send my documents to Berlitz?
You can send your documents in any format either electronically, by fax, by snail mail or in person. However, in whatever format you send your document, please ensure that the text is as legible and clear as possible.
In what format will my completed translation be delivered?
All completed translations are usually delivered in Word by email unless requested otherwise.
Will a photocopy suffice?
Yes, providing you require a translation only. If you require certification the original will be needed. See ‘Berlitz Certification' below.
What is Certification?
A certified translation is a translation that has been formally verified for use as an official document.
Berlitz Certification (most common):
The translation is stamped and signed by Berlitz, certifying that the translation of the original document has been made by us. In certain cases we supply a translation with a stamped declaration on headed paper, stating that to the best of the translator's or agency's knowledge and ability, they have provided a true and accurate translation of the original document.
Cost of certification is zero as this is included in the price. However, the cost will depend on the word count but often the minimum charge plus VAT applies. See ‘Berlitz Certification' below.
Certification by Solicitor (external)
This is usually arranged by the translator and the original is not always required.
Costs: £20 - £35 solicitor's charge plus translator's charge (time).
Notarisation (external)
Costs for this range between £80 and £150 plus VAT
Original documents are always required as well as official ID and proof of residency in some cases.
Berlitz Certification
We can certify documents such as birth certifcates, marriage certificates, divorce papers etc or any academic certificate, in fact any certificate as long as you provide the original document.
For translation purposes a photocopy, scanned or faxed version of the document will suffice. However, we will require sight of the original document at some stage. You can bring the original with you when you come to collect the completed translation or post it to us to the address below and both the certified translation and original document will be returned to your address by recorded delivery at no extra cost. In addition, you can request as many copies as you wish at no extra cost.
